Family

Your family doesn't need to be perfectly behaved for great photos.

Relaxed, modern family photography in Slidell and throughout the Northshore, with enough direction that nobody is wondering what to do and enough freedom for your family to actually be your family.

Sessions are available in the studio or on location throughout Slidell, Mandeville, Covington, the Greater New Orleans area, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

I know how to pose bodies.
You just have to show up.

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE NORTHSHORE

I'll help you figure out the rest.

Family sessions can happen in my Slidell studio or outdoors throughout the Northshore, including Slidell, Mandeville, Covington, the surrounding New Orleans areas, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The studio gives us controlled lighting, no weather surprises, and a clean, polished look. Outdoor sessions give kids more room to move and can feel a little more relaxed — plus we get to take advantage of some pretty great Louisiana backdrops.

For outdoor family photos, I typically recommend mornings or the hour before sunset for softer, more flattering light (and significantly less squinting).

Not sure where you want to go? You don't need to come to me with a location picked out. Tell me the look you're drawn to, your family, and how far you want to travel.

I know how to pose bodies.
You just have to show up.

After your session, you'll see your photographs and choose your favorites.

Depending on your session, that may happen at a same-day reveal or through a private gallery. From there, you can choose the digital images, albums, prints, and artwork you actually want.

No guessing what you'll love before you've seen yourself photographed.

We'll figure out wardrobe, styling, location, and all the details beforehand.

Once we've chosen your session and date, I'll send over your agreement and invoice. Your signed agreement + retainer officially reserve your spot on my calendar.

2. Make it Official

Start with an inquiry and tell me what you want to create. You don't need to have the location, outfits, or every detail figured out yet — that's what planning is for.

Family Photography FAQs

What kind of families do you photograph?

All kinds.
Families with little kids. Families with teenagers. Grown kids and their parents. Couples with no kids. LGBTQ+ families. Blended families. Single-parent families. Chosen family. Grandparents. Multiple generations. And yes, families where the dog is absolutely considered one of the children.
There's no formula for what a family is supposed to look like around here. If they're your people, they count.

Family photography sessions are available in Slidell and throughout the Northshore, including Mandeville and Covington, as well as the Greater New Orleans area.
Depending on your family and the look you want, we can photograph your session outdoors on location or in my Slidell studio. I'll help you decide what makes the most sense when we're planning.

Start with coordinating rather than matching. Choose colors and textures that work well together without putting everyone in identical outfits.
I'll provide wardrobe guidance before your session and can help you narrow things down if you're stuck between options. You don't have to figure out the whole family's wardrobe by yourself.

A lot more than one photograph of everyone looking at the camera.
We'll photograph the entire family along with smaller combinations such as siblings, parents with the kids, each parent with the children, couples, individual portraits, and candid moments throughout the session.
The exact combinations depend on who's coming and what matters most to your family.

Absolutely. Extended and multi-family sessions are available.
Because photographing several households takes more time and involves more combinations than a standard immediate-family session, tell me who's coming when you inquire and I'll recommend the right session for your group.

Then we'll photograph your actual children.
Kids don't need to sit perfectly still, smile on command, or behave like tiny professional models for us to make good photographs. I'll give direction when we need it and leave room for movement, personality, silliness, breaks, and whatever else the kids bring that day.
No perfectly behaved children required.

For outdoor sessions, the best light is generally earlier in the morning or closer to sunset rather than the middle of the day.
The exact timing depends on the season, location, weather, and ages of your children. We'll choose a time that gives us beautiful light without setting your family up for disaster because it's two hours past somebody's bedtime.

Yes — pets are family, too.
Just let me know beforehand so we can choose an appropriate location and plan accordingly. Treats, a leash, and an extra person who can take your pet for a break after their photographs can make things considerably easier.

Start by sending an inquiry and telling me a little about your family and what you're hoping to create. We'll choose the right session, find a date, and figure out whether the studio or an outdoor/on-location session makes the most sense.
Once your date is selected, you'll receive an online agreement and invoice. Your signed agreement + retainer officially reserve your session.
From there, I'll help with location, wardrobe, timing, and all the details so you're not left trying to plan everything yourself.
